AICE Israeli Film Festival 2007 – Melbourne Opening Night
The fourth AICE Israeli Film Festival opened on Tuesday 21 August at the Palace Como, South Yarra. More than 400 people attended the Opening Night of the Festival, officially launched by The Hon Alexander Downer MP, Australian Minister for Foreign Affairs. Other speakers on the evening included Tony Lupton MP, Cabinet Secretary of Victoria (representing the Victorian Premier, John Brumby), Founder and Chairman of AICE, Albert Dadon, Embassy of Israel Spokesman and Cultural Attache, Dor Shapira and AICE Executive Director, Keith Lawrence.
The opening film was the multi-award winning ‘Aviva My Love’, written and directed by Shemi Zarhin. Awards include 6 Israeli ‘Ophirs’ (including Best Film), Jerusalem International Film Festival 2006 (Best Script and Best Actress) and Best Script Awards at Shanghai and Chicago International Film Festivals.
