AICE Founder and Chairman, Albert Dadon, received the Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in the Queen’s Birthday Honours List 2008 for his ‘service to the arts, particularly through the Melbourne Jazz Festival, to the community through philanthropic support for cultural and charitable organisations, and to business’.
Executive Chairman of Ubertas, a private property development company, Albert recently stepped down as the Artistic Director of Melbourne Jazz following his second festival in 2008 and following on from his position as Chairman of the organisation (2003 -2005). During his time at the festival, he also founded the Australian Jazz Bell Awards, which he will continue with the position of Founding Chairman.
As well as AICE, Melbourne Jazz and The Australian Jazz Bell Awards, Albert has taken an active involvement in the arts and cultural fields, including Chairman of the French Chamber of Commerce (Victoria), the United Israel Appeal, Director of the Australia French Foundation and is the publisher of the quarterly cultural magazine Rhapsody.
